Position Overview:
This role's primary responsibility is to effectively support the manager in overseeing all operations of the gift shop.

This includes ensuring that team members are assisting customers, maintaining focus on tasks, adhering to break schedules, and following established policies and procedures.


Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: managing inventory and product displays; overseeing back stock flow and daily merchandising; handling freight and stocking; utilizing a point-of-sale system; and performing opening and closing tasks.

Additionally, the Gift Shop Operations Supervisor will maintain the cleanliness and organization of the stockroom, sales floor, espresso bar, and merchandise, while also assisting in the training of new employees.

Excellent communication skills are essential for this role. The Gift Shop Operations Supervisor is expected to comply with and enforce all company policies and procedures while maintaining open communication with the Gift Shop Manager.

Maintaining a professional demeanor and a positive attitude is crucial, as this role sets an example for other staff members.

This position can involve physically demanding work and requires mental agility and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

The Gift Shop Operations Supervisor must be capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

All employees are expected to perform their duties safely and report any safety concerns to management. Additionally, all staff members should stay informed about company events, history, and products. Other duties may be assigned by the manager.


Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in customer service and retail is required
  • Clear and consistent communication with management and other departments
  • Proficiency in computer and internet usage
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Prior experience in ordering and merchandising is preferred
  • Experience in inventory management and processing merchandise from vendors
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships regarding order discrepancies and product issues
  • Experience in preparing coffee and specialty espresso beverages

Essential Functions:

  • Effectively supervise staff in a positive and professional manner
  • Perform fine motor tasks including frequent repetitive hand movements
  • Engage in repetitive physical activities such as bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays
  • Ability to navigate stairs and/or ladders as necessary
  • Communicate clearly and maintain a positive, polite, and cooperative attitude with colleagues, management, vendors, and customers
  • Maintain composure and focus in a high-volume, deadline-oriented work environment
  • Value diversity and work effectively with individuals from various backgrounds
  • Accurately handle cash and credit card transactions
  • Manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Work with minimal supervision in a sometimes high-pressure environment.
