Primary Care Physician Opportunity

The Department of Veteran Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Primary Care Physician to join our team at the Durham VA Medical Center. As a Primary Care Physician, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive primary care to male and female Veterans, including prevention and patient self-management.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide independent clinical evaluations of Veterans through their panel of patients, including prevention and patient self-management.
  • Provide comprehensive primary care to male and female Veterans, including direct face-to-face care, virtual care, and other modalities.
  • Promote, direct, evaluate, and refer to management of clinical concerns found during evaluations.
  • Function as a member of a Patient Aligned Care Team, collaborating with clinical and administrative support to provide timely, quality, coordinated care for Veterans.
  • Utilize and promote approved standards of care, procedures, methods, and techniques, safety precautions, and protocols.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare resources to ensure continuity of care.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, skills, procedures, and protocols relevant in the area of specialty.
  • May provide coverage in primary care clinics.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Quality Improvement activities.
  • Participate in and attend medical center committees.

Education/Research Duties:

  • Ensure self-development responsibilities and maintain current knowledge of trends in clinical care and the theory, evidence base, and implementation of team-based medical care.
  • Participate in clinical research programs when appropriate.
  • Abide by all VA regulations governing research if involved in an outgoing research project.
  • May participate in clinical education when appropriate.
