As the chief executive officer, you will be responsible for directing the strategic planning, program of work, community leadership, and operations of the Chamber.

Key Responsibilities
  • Governance and Strategic Planning
    • Meet regularly with the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee to discuss and plan the business of the Chamber.
    • Ensure that all Board-related meetings are established and provide agendas and minutes of those meetings.
    • Meet with Chamber committees and subcommittees to ensure that all related business and activities are professionally carried out according to established goals/metrics.
  • Program of Work, Mission Impact, and Business Community Leadership
    • Represent and serve as the voice of the Morrisville business community and advocate for policies that support the growth and vitality of the business community.
    • Establish the Chamber event calendar, ensuring a balanced offering for all members. Supervise the orchestration of all events on the Chamber event calendar and keep all event logistics orderly.
    • Represent the Chamber at Morrisville Town Hall and other government meetings; maintain positive relationships with Town of Morrisville and Wake County elected officials and staff.
  • Membership Growth and Financial Sustainability
    • Meet with Chamber members and potential members to promote the Chamber, Chamber membership, sponsorship, and its programming.
    • Ensure that the Chamber increases and maintains growing membership and delivers on its annual and long-term financial plan.
    • Create, implement, and adhere to the Chamber budget and financial affairs, working with the accountant, Board treasurer, Board chair, and finance committee of the board on a monthly basis.
  • Administration and Operations
    • Manage daily operations of the Chamber.
    • Manage rental of Chamber space(s), including office space rental.
    • Ensure that the Chamber is adequately staffed to meet the needs of its members; ensure that the hours of the Chamber are well publicized.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or comparable combination of education and work experience.
  • Prior Chamber of Commerce experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to effectively connect with people of all races, socio-economic and educational levels, various religions, business owners, government officials, nonprofits, and civic organizations.
  • Prior work in the field of development (e.g., event planning, membership growth) strongly preferred.
  • Effective written and public speaking skills.
  • Strong time management, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
  • Experience orchestrating and running large-scale events (e.g., Annual Chamber Meeting, Golf Tournament) is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to travel within the metropolitan Triangle area is required.
  • Ability to occasionally travel out of the metropolitan Triangle area to conferences or related training/gatherings is preferred.
