Job Summary

The Employment Specialist will work closely with clients to develop employment plans that fit their individual aptitude, education level, physical ability, and career goals. This includes generating appropriate employment opportunities, assisting with employment-related issues, and providing counseling and support.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement employment plans for clients
  • Generate employment opportunities for clients
  • Assist clients with employment-related issues, including resume development, job applications, and interviewing techniques
  • Provide counseling and support to clients
  • Monitor computer labs and assist clients with learning computer applications
  • Conduct field work, including accompanying clients to job interviews
  • Maintain and submit all necessary documents and reports
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and supervisory sessions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community services and resources
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; Social Work or related field preferred
  • Minimum two years of experience working with people with mental health conditions, formerly homeless individuals preferred
  • Experience with developing and running psycho-educational groups
  • Experience with Job Development, Supportive Employment, and IPS model highly preferred
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with on-line chart record databases, such as AWARDS, a plus
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus
