Job Summary

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a highly skilled Employment Specialist to join our team. As an Employment Specialist, you will play a critical role in assisting newly arrived refugees and other eligible immigrants in achieving self-sufficiency through employment preparation, job placement, and career advancement services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct intakes and assessments to identify clients' employment needs and develop comprehensive employment plans.
  • Provide job readiness and job search coaching to clients, connecting them with suitable employment opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Economic Empowerment team to identify employment and training opportunities for clients, building relationships with area service providers to support clients' needs.
  • Assist clients and employers with post-placement issues and continuing training and employment needs.
  • Monitor client job performance, wage levels, and related metrics, documenting client interactions and inputting client information in database(s) as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with coworkers and partner organizations to ensure clients receive complimentary services from internal departments.
  • Train and lead the activities of support staff, volunteers, and interns, performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Relevant professional experience in the workforce development field, with a minimum of 2 years' experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with job placement and job readiness training is considered a plus.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills, with the ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in relationship-building and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills, combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), with the ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field of study is preferred.
Language Skills
  • Fluency in both English and Ukrainian and/or Russian, both spoken and written, is required.
Working Environment
  • The role involves a mix of working in a standard office environment and remote work.
  • Responsibilities include spending time in the service delivery area, often referred to as 'field' time.
  • The position may occasionally require weekend and/or evening work.
