We are seeking a qualified Electrical Protection and Control Specialist to join LaBella's Program Management Services Division.

The Program Management Services Division at LaBella offers extensive management services for intricate projects and long-term capital initiatives. Our project teams are tailored to deliver a unique blend of business consulting, project oversight, financial management, administrative, and technical support services.


The Electrical Protection and Control Specialist will serve as an independent representative for the client throughout all phases of project development, execution, and completion.

This role involves providing expert support to our clients regarding the protection and control elements of various engineering design packages.


As an Electrical Protection and Control Specialist, you will be pivotal in ensuring the integrity, reliability, and efficiency of electrical protection and control systems within projects.

Your main duties will include reviewing and assessing engineering documentation submitted by detailed engineering firms to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and regulatory guidelines.

Engineering Documentation Review


Conduct thorough evaluations of protection and control system design documents, including single-line diagrams, relay protection schemes, control schematics, wiring diagrams, and related documentation prepared by engineering firms.


Salary Range:
$75,000 - $120,000


The specific salary offered may vary based on factors such as the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.

Responsibilities


Ensure that protection and control systems are designed and implemented in accordance with:

  • Applicable client and project specifications
  • Relevant codes
  • Network interconnection agreement requirements
  • Engineering best practices


Provide coordination and technical leadership related to the protection and control discipline, from the tender process through project execution to contract closure.

Deliver consistent, high-quality, cost-effective engineering guidance to key stakeholders and assigned projects.


Oversee aspects of assigned projects to guarantee that equipment is supplied and installed per the required quality and engineering standards.


Facilitate communication between program stakeholders and client engineering disciplines concerning protection and control, SCADA, and communication.

Represent the project team in technical and project meetings.


Monitor proposals for modifications to protection and control designs and prepare reports assessing their suitability for the project.

Review non-conformities and evaluate proposed corrective actions.

Inspect the commissioning of mechanical and electrical components of all protection and control systems and equipment.

Review and approve various root cause failure analyses and associated corrective actions.

Respond to all protection and control inquiries, both internal and external.

Requirements


Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

Candidates with a Maine PE license or the ability to obtain one within one year will be preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in protection and controls within the power industry.

Experience in the design, management, and commissioning of protection and control systems for distribution and distribution automation projects.

Familiarity with Distributed Energy Resource management processes and regulations.

Experience with Quality Management System standards (e.g., ISO-9001, TS-16949, etc.).

Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Experience with SAP Customer Service and Work Management is advantageous.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
