Laboratory Research Associate II

Position Summary:
Under the guidance of senior staff, the Research Associate II engages in routine and progressively intricate laboratory activities, acquiring specialized knowledge in various domains pertinent to research initiatives. This role encompasses participation in all facets of the research continuum, including investigation, technical assessments, validation of findings, and documentation of results. The Associate will execute a range of standard experimental procedures to further the goals of laboratory research endeavors. Responsibilities also include adherence to safety protocols, assisting in data preparation for scholarly dissemination, and contributing to the overall upkeep of the laboratory environment. This position does not entail supervisory duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Executing routine production of biological products, which includes media formulation, cell culture, cell enumeration, centrifugation, and cryopreservation.
- Independently managing necessary documentation and guiding fellow operators on accurate cGMP record-keeping practices.
- Carrying out a variety of increasingly sophisticated experimental methods and aiding in the development of new complex protocols.
- Maintaining precise and comprehensive records of experiments and outcomes, while assisting in troubleshooting unexpected results.
- Drafting technical summaries, protocols, and reports.
- Ordering laboratory supplies and facilitating laboratory operations.
- Ensuring the maintenance of laboratory equipment and associated records, while coordinating the use of such equipment.
- Supporting the operation of specialized equipment as dictated by the research area.
- Assisting in the preparation of data for scholarly publication and presentations.
- Adhering to established safety standards and procedures.
- Providing orientation to research laboratory assistants or junior research associates and undergraduate researchers regarding daily lab operations and standard procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of two (2) years of laboratory experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in a cGMP/cGTP manufacturing environment within academic or industry settings.
- Background in scientific research, particularly in mammalian cell culture and cGMP practices.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (cGMP/cGTP) applicable to the biopharmaceutical, blood, and tissue banking sectors.
- Comprehension of general research objectives.
- Acquainted with standard laboratory procedures, experimental protocols, and overall lab organization.
- Highly motivated individual capable of working autonomously, with excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, and proficiency in computer applications.
- Proficient in computer software, including Excel and Word.
- Able to manage multiple clerical tasks simultaneously, with a keen attention to detail.
