Laboratory Research Associate II

Position Summary:
Under the guidance of senior staff, the Research Associate II engages in both routine and advanced laboratory tasks, honing technical skills in areas pertinent to ongoing research initiatives. This role encompasses participation in various research activities, including investigation, technical analysis, validation of results, and documentation of findings. The Associate will execute a range of standard experimental protocols to support laboratory research objectives while adhering to safety protocols and assisting in the maintenance of laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Executing routine production of biological products, which includes tasks such as media preparation, cell culture, cell counting, formulation, centrifugation, and cryopreservation.
- Independently managing documentation and guiding fellow operators on accurate cGMP recording practices for batch records and related forms.
- Conducting a variety of increasingly sophisticated experimental procedures and contributing to the design of new and complex protocols.
- Maintaining detailed and accurate records of experiments and assisting in troubleshooting unexpected outcomes.
- Preparing technical documentation, including summaries, protocols, and reports.
- Ordering laboratory supplies and supporting overall laboratory functionality.
- Ensuring the upkeep of laboratory equipment and maintaining associated records, as well as coordinating the use of specialized equipment.
- Assisting in the preparation of data for scholarly publications and presentations.
- Adhering to established safety standards and procedures.
- Providing orientation and guidance to research assistants and undergraduate researchers regarding daily laboratory operations and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of two years of laboratory experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in a cGMP/cGTP manufacturing environment within academic or industry settings.
- Strong background in scientific research, particularly in mammalian cell culture and cGMP practices.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (cGMP/cGTP) relevant to the biopharmaceutical, blood, or tissue banking sectors.
- Understanding of fundamental research objectives.
- Proficient in routine laboratory procedures, experimental methodologies, and overall lab organization.
- Highly motivated individual capable of working independently, with excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in computer applications, including Excel and Word.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with a keen attention to detail.
