Job Overview

The role of the Hardware Maintenance Technician is essential for the upkeep and support of internal technology assets and equipment. This position involves the installation, configuration, diagnosis, repair, and enhancement of all company hardware, ensuring peak performance. The technician will also be responsible for troubleshooting issues promptly and accurately, while providing training and assistance to end users as necessary.


Key Responsibilities

· Serve as the primary responder to hardware and software inquiries from end users (both on-site and remotely).

· Conduct on-site evaluations, diagnosis, and resolution of intricate PC issues for various users, recommending and implementing hardware solutions, including off-site repairs when required.

· Configure and procure desktop and laptop systems as authorized by the IT manager for employees.

· Set up, install software, and provide training for all newly acquired desktop and laptop systems.

· Configure and procure desktop and laptop systems as necessary for various projects.

· Provide support for IT infrastructure as needed (including wireless networks, servers, switches, etc.).

· Assist with the management of the phone system as required.

· Oversee network file storage as directed by the IT manager.

· Document all instances of hardware failures, repairs, installations, and removals accurately.

· Aid in the development of long-term strategies and capacity planning to address future IT hardware requirements.

· Keep abreast of hardware and equipment contracts, supervising installations that are contract-based.

· Research computer products to support PC procurement and development initiatives, evaluating and recommending hardware for purchase.

· Draft technical specifications for the acquisition of PCs, networking hardware, and related products.

· Propose, schedule, and execute improvements, upgrades, and repairs for PCs, hardware, and peripheral devices.

· Archive completed projects as instructed by the IT Manager.

· Construct, install, and test tailored configurations across various platforms and operating systems.

· Liaise with third-party support and vendors for PC and related equipment as necessary.


Position Requirements

· Practical experience in hardware troubleshooting.

· Proficient in using tools, components, and peripheral devices.

· Ability to comprehend technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.

· Capable of conducting research into PC-related issues and products as needed.

· Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

· Understanding of the organization's objectives and goals.

· Self-driven and motivated.

· Attention to detail is crucial.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively.

· Experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

· Strong customer service orientation.

· The position may require prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

· Physical tasks may include standing, walking, pushing or pulling carts, reaching overhead, bending, and occasionally exerting force as needed.

· Near vision acuity with or without accommodation.


Education & Certification

· A Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field, or an Associate's degree accompanied by two years of relevant experience.
