Position: Healthcare Billing Specialist

Location: Specialist Office

We are seeking a skilled Healthcare Billing Specialist with a minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and accounts receivable management. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of billing processes across various insurance providers and demonstrate expertise in full accounts receivable and revenue cycle management.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proficient in handling appeals and denials with a strong background in Excel.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Ability to draft appeal letters and manage high-volume transactions effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy in all billing processes.

Responsibilities:

The Healthcare Billing Specialist will be responsible for the following:

  • Reviewing aged patient accounts to ensure timely resolution and payment.
  • Managing patient inquiries through both in-person and telephone communication regarding account balances and payment options.
  • Maximizing collections by diligently monitoring open accounts receivable.
  • Proactively following up on claim denials and unpaid accounts.
  • Conducting collection calls and coordinating overdue account submissions to collection agencies.
  • Completing end-of-day processes and providing accurate daily reports to management.
  • Posting insurance and patient payments, as well as managing write-offs.
  • Preparing documentation for appeals and resubmitting corrected claims within required timelines.
  • Resolving registration and insurance eligibility issues as they arise.
  • Establishing and maintaining patient payment plans.
  • Contributing to the development of strategies aimed at reducing denials and enhancing reimbursement rates.
  • Maintaining professionalism and fostering positive relationships with patients.
  • Assisting in the training of new and existing staff on departmental policies and systems.
  • Upholding all practice and departmental policies, objectives, and quality standards, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
  • Identifying and addressing revenue cycle billing issues promptly.
  • Preparing accounts receivable aging reports and monitoring overdue items.
