Overview

The Team Leader role is a strategic stepping stone designed to prepare an individual who is already adept at managing shifts for the broader responsibilities of overseeing the entire store as the Store Manager. The Team Leader assists the Store Manager in planning, directing, and controlling store operations. Responsibilities include supervising staff in inventory management, loss prevention, and work hour allocation. The Team Leader may also assist in product ordering and support sales initiatives to maximize revenue potential while gaining foundational knowledge in profit and loss management.

During assigned shifts, the Team Leader is responsible for managing the processes and personnel necessary to deliver exceptional and friendly customer service. They oversee the preparation of products in accordance with operational and quality standards and manage the service provided by the team to ensure a positive guest experience.

Team Leaders are tasked with providing leadership, guidance, and coaching to Crew Members throughout their shifts. They assign crew roles, set shift expectations, motivate team members, and provide timely feedback to address performance issues or acknowledge successes.

Fostering a Positive Team Environment

  • Arrive punctually to prepare for your scheduled shift.
  • Exhibit respect and dignity in interactions with team members and guests.
  • Adhere to established communication protocols within the store.
  • Guide employees through their roles, clarifying responsibilities, offering feedback, and recognizing achievements respectfully.
  • Allocate team members effectively to meet guest needs and service standards throughout the shift.
  • Support the training of Crew Members as directed by the Store Manager.
  • Communicate objectives and hold team members accountable for performance during shifts.
  • Encourage a sense of urgency among Crew Members to meet guest needs and resolve issues promptly.
  • Monitor team performance to ensure adherence to quality, service, and cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure compliance with restaurant standards and marketing initiatives during shifts.
  • Follow established systems and processes to manage labor costs, food costs, and cash effectively.
  • Ensure Crew Members comply with all policies and procedures related to cleanliness, food safety, and restaurant security during shifts.
  • Report equipment issues, provide performance feedback, and discuss opportunities for improvement with the Store Manager.
  • Comply with all restaurant, brand, and franchise policies.
  • Respond positively to coaching and feedback, demonstrating a passion for learning.
  • Take ownership of designated responsibilities during shifts.
  • Commit to learning and executing multiple tasks effectively.

  • Adhere to uniform standards, including appropriate attire and grooming.

Minimum Qualifications Include:

  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Basic math and writing skills.
  • Experience in restaurant, retail, or supervisory roles preferred.
  • Guest-focused approach, anticipating and exceeding guest expectations.
  • Results-oriented mindset, setting and achieving compelling targets.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities based on analysis and judgment.
  • Ability to build effective teams, placing the right people in the right roles to foster collaboration and celebrate success.
  • Physical and mental capability to operate standard restaurant equipment (age requirements may apply).
  • Ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds and perform tasks involving pushing, pulling, stretching, and continuous use of fingers and wrists.
