Position Summary:
This role acts as the principal leader of the organization, adept at steering operational success and fostering a team of high achievers. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, this position holds comprehensive management authority over a dynamic agency with an annual budget of $14 million and a workforce exceeding 80 employees. The role blends motivational leadership with advanced management skills to enhance the Agency's culture, capabilities, processes, and overall impact. Close collaboration with the executive administrative team is essential to inspire innovation and ensure the Agency is equipped to fulfill its mission of supporting the dignity and independence of older adults, individuals with disabilities, and other homebound persons through the provision of nutritious meals and essential services.

Compensation: Salary, Exempt, Full-Time Employee

Reports To: Board of Directors

Supervises: All Agency personnel and operations

Committee Engagement: Participates in all relevant committees as required

Key Relationships: Attends Board Meetings, including those related to Meals On Wheels, Inc., Endowment, and Client Assistance

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Executive Leadership & Organizational Management
  • Deliver visionary executive leadership that is inclusive, transparent, and empowering, aligned with the organization's mission as defined by the Board of Directors
  • Present strategic options and plans for organizational impact, securing Board approval as necessary
  • Organize, motivate, and mentor internal leaders to strategically enhance the Agency's impact, programs, and fundraising efforts
  • Employ innovative thinking and performance metrics to inform strategic decision-making
  • Foster a collaborative culture across departments, recognizing positive contributions
  • Contribute to and drive the implementation of the strategic plan
  • Oversee staff management processes, including hiring, separation, ongoing development, performance evaluation, and compensation
  • Cultivate a results-oriented, professional environment throughout the Agency
  • Manage daily operations and general management duties of the Agency
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors, staff, and other leaders to establish goals, objectives, and operational plans

Board Governance
  • Maintain consistent communication to strengthen relationships with the Board, providing leadership and support
  • Ensure effective communication with the Board by supplying necessary information for informed decision-making
  • Attend Board meetings, providing updates on staff and organizational progress
  • Manage Board dynamics to build consensus and offer support as needed
  • Implement Board policies and procedures, fostering staff support for Board decisions
  • Work closely with the Board and its committees, ensuring ongoing communication regarding risks, issues, and successes

Development & Fundraising
  • Drive development and fundraising efforts in collaboration with senior leadership, leveraging Board involvement as appropriate
  • Cultivate and develop relationships with the Agency's supporters
  • Ensure financial stability and sustainability through effective cash flow management and reserve maintenance

Financial Management & Administration
  • Provide strategic leadership and hands-on management for all administrative and operational functions in line with the Agency's mission and policies
  • Direct resources and manage finances within budgetary guidelines and legal regulations
  • Ensure fiscal integrity as the executive signer of all Agency contracts
  • Monitor the Board-approved budget and manage daily financial operations for optimal resource utilization
  • Build and administer the annual budget in collaboration with senior leadership for Board approval

External Relations & Communications
  • Serve as the Agency's chief spokesperson at public events, conferences, and partnership meetings
  • Promote the Agency, its mission, programs, and partnerships positively
  • Enhance visibility to prospects and the public, fostering engaged philanthropy
  • Oversee all aspects of the Agency's marketing and public relations efforts

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of experience as a CEO, Executive Director, or in a similar nonprofit leadership role
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Strong business acumen with a proven history of visionary leadership at the executive level
  • Familiarity with diverse business functions including Marketing, Public Relations, and Human Resources
  • Excellent written, oral, and public speaking skills; a persuasive communicator with strong interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to engage effectively with clients, donors, volunteers, staff, and board members

  • Experience working with local elected officials and building effective teams
  • Proven track record of organizational growth and leadership in a successful nonprofit or related entity
  • Demonstrated governance experience with a nonprofit Board and diverse groups
  • Established history of promoting diversity and success in recruiting and developing high-performance staff
  • Understanding of increasing philanthropic support and revenue generation
