Job Summary

Facility MaineHealth is seeking a skilled Clinical Coding Auditor to join our team. As a Clinical Coding Auditor, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate assignment of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding of diagnoses and procedures for outpatient medical records in multiple different outpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the general direction of the Coding Director, perform auditing to determine accuracy and completeness of the outpatient record, utilizing the 3M Coding Reimbursement and Epic EMR systems to compile data.
  • Evaluate medical necessity and Correct Coding Initiative edits and resolve them accurately.
  • Utilize knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 and HCPCS coding guidelines and principles to ensure accurate coding.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and compliant coding practices.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of coding regulations, guidelines, and industry developments.

Requirements:

  • Associates degree in a science field, with completion of an accredited program through AHIMA or AAPC.
  • Credential of CPC, CCS, or CPMA preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of multi-specialty, preferably surgical coding experience, with CPT/ICD-10-CM/HCPCS/modifier coding for physician professional charges.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in an acute care facility as a ASU Clinical Coder.
  • Proficiencies in ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 and HCPCS coding guidelines and principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EPIC experience preferred.
  • Time Management and Organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain a positive attitude in high stress environments.
  • Computer proficiency including MS Office, other web-based applications, EMRs, and other coding software.

License/Certifications:

  • RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCA, CPC, CPC-H, or CIRCC credential preferred.
