About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Architect to join our team at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. As a Senior Project Architect, you will be responsible for leading the design and construction of complex projects, working closely with our team of experts to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of building projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable building codes and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior team members, ensuring the highest level of quality and professionalism.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve project outcomes.
Requirements
  • BS or equivalent in Architecture, registered in the state of Maryland.
  • 8 or more years of experience as an Architect for the planning, design, and construction of complex projects.
  • Proficient in Revit and other industry-standard software.
  • Strong knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.
  • Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, sustainability, and integrated design.
  • Ability to work with design teams on multiple small projects of a complex scope simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to work closely with members of the Laboratory community and outside resources to create effective relationships.
  • Excellent listening, customer service, negotiation, team building, and organizational skills, as well as effective communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret level security clearance, with U.S. citizenship as a requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • Registered LEED AP.
  • Familiarity with specification and estimating software.
