Role Summary:
This position is essential for ensuring the smooth scheduling and coordination of various cardiovascular procedures. The Clinical Procedure Coordinator will play a pivotal role in managing patient appointments and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand and interpret all procedure orders related to Electrophysiology, TEE, and EVAR.
- Coordinate scheduling with pre-admission testing, Electrophysiology Catheterization Laboratory, and operating room schedules.
- Contact patients to provide detailed instructions for their procedures, ensuring they have necessary lab slips and understand the timeline for pre-procedure tasks.
- Order required pre-procedure testing and manage any necessary follow-ups.
- Assess and document any contrast dye allergies, ensuring appropriate medication orders are placed.
- Retrieve laboratory results and imaging studies, ensuring they are accurately scanned into patient charts.
- Update electronic medical records with lab results and relevant patient information.
- Communicate with physicians regarding all test results prior to scheduled procedures.
- Possess knowledge of anticoagulant therapies and their management prior to procedures.
- Obtain necessary precertifications from insurance providers.
- Fax clinical documentation as required.
- Maintain open lines of communication with referring physicians.
- Ensure all patient referrals are processed and available for hospital use.
- Complete all necessary documentation, including patient demographics, insurance details, procedure orders, prior authorization, and pre-procedure instructions.
- Conduct follow-ups post-procedure to monitor lab work, particularly for patients on Metformin or with renal conditions.
- Ensure all reports are scanned into the electronic chart and that orders are finalized.
- Manage administrative holds and in-process reports to ensure order completion.
Qualifications:
- Ability to cover for the Cath scheduler when necessary, with knowledge of that role.
- Experience in cardiology is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Electrophysiology devices is a plus.
- Understanding of hospital and procedure scheduling processes.
- Experience with electronic medical record systems is beneficial.
- Strong multitasking abilities.
- Detail-oriented and well-organized approach to work.
