Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Gastrointestinal Care Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for executing the nursing process, documenting nursing activities and interventions, and administering medications.

You will provide leadership and oversee the care, maintenance, and operations of the Endoscopy suites.

  • Conduct an age-appropriate assessment of the patient upon arrival to the surgical suite.
  • Initiate the care plan by properly preparing the patient for surgery.
  • Provide education and emotional support for surgical patients.
  • Ensure pre-procedure documentation and consent forms are completed.
  • Assist with the preparation and care of the patient during anesthesia.
  • Continuously assess and monitor the patient's condition throughout endoscopic or pain management procedures.
  • Set up necessary equipment for procedures and clean and sterilize all equipment post-procedure.

Job Requirements
Experience: 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a hospital setting; 1 year of experience as an Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) or Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) is preferred.

Education:
Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN); completion of or actively pursuing Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:
Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License (if Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy required within 2 months of hire.
Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) certification is preferred.
