Position Overview


The Aircraft Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of aircraft through comprehensive preventive maintenance and repair operations. This position is essential for maintaining the airworthiness of aircraft and ensuring that all technical documentation is accurately completed.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of aircraft maintenance logs upon arrival at transit stations, addressing any discrepancies noted in the logbook.
  • Execute both routine and non-routine maintenance tasks on aircraft.
  • Consult various Maintenance Manuals, including Illustrated Parts Catalogs, Structural Repair Manuals, and Component Maintenance Manuals, as well as wiring diagrams to perform maintenance work.
  • Accurately complete all necessary documentation in accordance with the General Maintenance Manual (GMM).
  • Utilize only certified and approved hardware, parts, and equipment for installation and maintenance on aircraft.
  • Maintain JetBlue facilities and equipment as directed by management.
  • Promote safety and security awareness among team members and within JetBlue facilities.
  • Acquire and uphold special qualifications such as Quality Control Required Inspection Items (RII), Airworthiness release, taxi run-up, CAT III authorization, and Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Proficient in operating tugs, trucks, and other maintenance vehicles.
  • Familiarity with online aircraft manuals.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Physical capability to crawl, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a collaborative environment.
  • Possession of a valid Driver License with a driving record that meets JetBlue's insurance standards.
  • Alertness to moving vehicles and aircraft, ensuring situational awareness.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge.
  • Depending on the location, may require U.S. Customs Clearance.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (10%).
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the country of employment.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. is required; this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience as an aircraft maintenance technician.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet navigation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous leadership experience is a plus.

  • Consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours and respond to urgent needs.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Assist with light cleaning of aircraft when traveling on JetBlue flights, if time allows.

  • Act as a Safety Ambassador, promoting JetBlue's safety management initiatives.
  • Identify and report safety or security concerns using JetBlue's confidential reporting systems.
  • Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.), and company policies.
  • Understand and contribute to JetBlue's safety performance metrics.

Equipment Used:

  • Computer and standard office equipment.
  • Tools from the Minimum Tool List to be obtained within thirty days of employment.
  • Lift trucks, snorkel lifts, and boom lifts after completing required training.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including reflective safety vests and ear protection.
  • Handheld two-way radios and headsets.

Work Environment:

  • Work is conducted in airport and hangar settings.
  • Outdoor work may be required in various weather conditions.
  • Shift schedules are determined by seniority.
  • Ability to work in elevated areas and confined spaces is necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position involves physically demanding tasks, including lifting objects weighing over seventy to one hundred pounds.
