Position Overview - Safety and Security Specialist
The Safety and Security Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring a secure environment for all individuals within the facility. This position operates primarily during the day shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular patrols of designated areas, focusing on locations with previous security concerns.
- Identify and rectify unsafe conditions to prevent theft, injuries, or damage to property.
- Maintain confidentiality in all interactions and reports.
- Investigate incidents of theft or misconduct by interviewing involved parties.
- Coordinate with law enforcement as necessary regarding any civil or criminal issues.
- Document incidents accurately and keep supervisors informed of all relevant occurrences.
- Manage the safekeeping of valuables and evidence, ensuring proper documentation.
- Act as a Dispatcher, utilizing security systems to respond to calls for assistance.
- Assist in medical emergencies and provide support to victims as needed.
- Engage in cross-training across various departments to enhance skills.
- Ensure compliance with training requirements and maintain personal training records.
- Uphold the maintenance of issued uniforms and equipment.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all individuals.
- Be flexible to work in different shifts or locations as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage and de-escalate stressful situations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Customer-oriented mindset with a positive attitude.
- Understanding of community safety practices and crime prevention strategies.
- Proficient writing skills for documentation purposes.
- Familiarity with security technology and first aid equipment.
Qualifications:
- Licenses: A valid driver's license is required. A special state police license is preferred.
- Certifications: BLS, CPR, and First Responder certifications are required within a specified timeframe of hire. MOAB certification is also required.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary; a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years in security, emergency medical services, or customer service is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for extended periods, and respond swiftly to emergencies. Strong visual and auditory capabilities are essential for managing diverse situations.
