Community Violence Intervention Specialist

The Community Violence Intervention Specialist is responsible for delivering trauma-informed support and case management services to individuals impacted by community violence. This role is integral to a community violence intervention initiative aimed at mitigating crime in the region. Key duties include assisting young men of color who have experienced violence, coordinating services with various community organizations and healthcare providers, and leading group activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exemplify organizational values consistently
  • Design and oversee community violence intervention initiatives
  • Respond to referrals and provide comprehensive resource information
  • Maintain data within specified software systems
  • Engage participants in programs and assist with navigating community resources
  • Facilitate collaboration with community stakeholders and healthcare providers
  • Participate in trauma-informed training sessions and workshops
  • Contribute to community outreach and engagement efforts
  • Act as a liaison with community service providers and agencies

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related discipline preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience working with at-risk youth required
  • Comprehension of the effects of violence and trauma on individuals and communities
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Experience in recruitment and case management preferred
  • Strong communication and computer skills
  • Must possess reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
  • Ability to cultivate and sustain effective relationships
