Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Packaging Equipment Technician is responsible for executing all necessary tasks under the supervision of the Packaging Supervisor. This role involves operating and maintaining assigned manufacturing production machinery, which includes setup, changeover, cleaning, operation, basic preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting. Additionally, the technician will support the development of new products and processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Packaging Equipment Technician works closely with the Packaging Supervisor and receives guidance from Maintenance Mechanics and Management. The responsibilities outlined below are representative of the essential functions of the position:

  • Understanding all safety protocols related to plant equipment.
  • Proficient in company-specific software applications (eInfotree, Blue Mountain, Antares, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP and GDP practices.
  • Ability to locate and adhere to all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Capable of identifying unsafe conditions and seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Thorough understanding of the proper usage of hand tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
  • Competent in performing line changeovers independently.
  • Able to conduct basic machine preventive maintenance with minimal assistance.
  • Operate and sanitize packaging line equipment effectively.
  • Continuously monitor equipment during operation to identify and rectify recurring minor stoppages that impact production output.
  • Assist in the creation of SOPs, Job Aids, and Setup sheets.
  • Propose redesigns of equipment or procedural modifications to enhance packaging efficiency.
  • Regularly escalate issues to more experienced technicians for support.
  • Log and complete all assigned SOPs and compliance training in eInfotree.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 1 year of basic mechanical experience.
  • Proficient in computer usage.

The physical demands and working conditions for this role are representative of those encountered in the position. The environment typically involves standard office equipment (e.g., computers, phones, etc.). Frequent standing, sitting, walking, talking, and hearing are required, along with occasional reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees may need to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Safety glasses and appropriate attire are mandatory on the production floor.
