Lighthouse Lab Services is collaborating with a prominent healthcare organization that is experiencing growth, and we are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Operations Manager to oversee their initiatives.

Position Summary:

The Clinical Laboratory Operations Manager is responsible for the performance of the laboratory site, focusing on On Time Performance (OTP), Turnaround Time (TAT), and Quality metrics. This role ensures that samples are processed and analyzed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with relevant CAP and CLIA regulations. Key responsibilities include:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Supervising both technical and non-technical laboratory personnel.
  • Managing budgetary aspects including materials, supplies, labor, and employee engagement.
  • Maintaining open communication with Sales and Leadership regarding laboratory operations.
  • Providing clear guidance to employees regarding their daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities.
  • Ensuring compliance with laboratory, safety, and company policies among all staff.
  • Working with HR to address any employee-related issues or disputes.
  • Equipping employees with the necessary tools and resources for high-quality work.
  • Promoting collaboration and sharing best practices across all laboratory locations.
  • Communicating any changes in protocols or company policies to technical staff.
  • Documenting competency assessments of laboratory personnel as directed by the Lab Director.
  • Maintaining compliance documentation in line with regulatory standards, including inspection readiness.
  • Collaborating with Quality Analysts to create and update the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manual.
  • Assisting in the training and competency assessment of laboratory staff.
  • Overseeing supply management, operational reviews, equipment maintenance, and adherence to quality management standards.
  • Reviewing incident reports and compliance-related issues within the laboratory.
  • Continuously assessing staffing and scheduling to meet performance indicators and business objectives.
  • Ensuring a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and quality controls for accurate data reporting.
  • Managing resources through ADP, including approving time-off requests and timecards.
  • Maintaining competencies across all laboratory processes.
  • Escalating issues as necessary to support internal and external customers.
  • Fostering a high-performance culture within the laboratory.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Master's Degree in a relevant scientific field is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in hematology, coagulation, routine chemistry, and immunoassay.
  • A minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience is required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of clinical laboratory services.
  • Technical expertise to oversee laboratory operations.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills to implement solutions as challenges arise.

Certifications:

  • Preferred Medical Technologist certification from AAB in Molecular Diagnostics or equivalent.
  • Preferred Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Clinical Microbiologist Scientist License (CMSL).
