Overview

This role is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which provides a reimbursement option for student loan payments. Key Responsibilities

The individual in this position will function as a clinical laboratory specialist within the general section of a clinical laboratory, responsible for conducting a comprehensive array of tests in Hematology/Coagulation, Blood Bank, Automated Chemistry, General Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Urinalysis, and Microbiology. Key duties include:
  • Processing specimens and conducting CAP performance surveys utilizing necessary equipment and techniques to prepare samples for specific analyses while maintaining optimal physical conditions.
  • Preparing reagents, controls, and standard solutions; ensuring correct instrument operations; calibrating instruments as required and performing calculations for various tests.
  • Selecting, executing, and evaluating test procedures using both manual and instrumental techniques in line with established protocols.
  • Implementing quality control measures on equipment, reagents, and products while maintaining accurate records for quality control reports.
  • Calibrating, standardizing, and maintaining laboratory instruments, verifying their proper operation through established procedures and quality control checks.
  • Assessing the validity of data in relation to the testing system and accepted assay procedures, correlating quantitative data with patient information to verify results.
  • Conducting additional tests to clarify or confirm abnormal patient results and promptly reporting critical findings to the physician.
  • Generating laboratory results from the work area into the laboratory information system and ensuring the accuracy of results recorded.
  • Participating in mandatory continuing education and presenting summaries of external programs attended to peers.
  • Responding to inquiries regarding test results, methodologies, and factors influencing test outcomes.
Work Schedule: Various schedules including weekend and holiday rotations; specific shifts will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution in medical laboratory science, medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related field. Completion of a medical technology clinical practice program accredited by recognized agencies is also required.
