We are seeking a highly qualified Clinical Track Assistant Professor in Interventional Gastroenterology to join our team at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. The selected candidate will contribute to the departments mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care and supervision of medical students and residents in clinic and hospital settings.
- Develop and sustain an environment in the patient care units that supports excellence and innovation in clinical practice and patient care.
- Perform staff management functions, including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, counseling, and terminating assigned staff.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, support, and consultation to clinical managers, attending physicians, research personnel, colleagues, and clinical staff.
- Delegating authority and accountability to clinical & nursing staff for clinical practice and patient care decisions.
- Collaborate with UTHealth Houston and hospital administration and physicians to identify future opportunities and define the direction of department services.
- Maintain an ongoing departmental Quality Improvement Plan and process consistent with the organizational Quality Management Plan.
The selected candidate must have a Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License. Certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology is required. The applicant should be fellowship trained in GI.
