Job Title: Professor, Research

Department: Orthopedic Surgery

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified Professor of Research in Orthopedic Surgery to join our team at UTHealth Houston. The selected candidate will contribute to the department's mission to educate health science professionals, discover and translate advances in the biomedical and social sciences, and model the best practices in clinical care and public health through research, teaching, clinical service, administrative activities, and other services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting research studies focused on musculoskeletal health, including but not limited to bone, muscle, and joint disorders.
  • Designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting results.
  • Collaborating with other researchers, clinicians, and industry partners to develop novel treatments and interventions.
  • Publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences.
  • Contributing to grant writing and securing funding for research projects.
  • Mentoring graduate students and junior researchers.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in a relevant field such as biomechanics, physiology, orthopedics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in musculoskeletal research, with a track record of publications and presentations.
  • Experience with experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in relevant research methods and techniques, such as biomechanical testing, imaging, and molecular biology.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced research environment.
