Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Services Field Engineer to join our team at TMEIC Corporation Americas. As a Technical Services Field Engineer, you will provide specialized expertise to clients and field engineers in the area of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients and Company engineers to resolve issues related to VFDs
  • Analyze client equipment failures using remote diagnostics tools
  • Provide technical support to clients and other engineers
  • Perform commissioning, installations, quality inspections, and performance testing of VFDs
  • Troubleshoot, isolate issue, repair and/or replace defective components
  • Report to the factory any errors of deficiencies in hardware, software or system design discovered from consultation with clients and Company engineers
  • Implement corrective actions outlined in Field Change Notices as assigned
  • Update client relationship management (CRM) tool with appropriate case information
  • Prepare Service Advices and issue to clients and field engineers as necessary
  • Write and/or review field reports, and issue to clients as requested
  • Acquire and maintain current safety qualifications appropriate to the assigned tasks
  • Process warranty replacements, expediting when necessary
  • Respond to client issues after regular business hours on rotating phone duty
  • Investigate suggested field changes, report problems and recommend solutions to parent company as necessary

Requirements

  • Bachelor of science in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field or equivalent via education and/or work experience
  • 3 years of field engineering, customer support, development, test, or project engineering experience in AC and DC Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) in an industrial or laboratory environment
  • Strong knowledge of power conversion
  • Demonstrated experience in configuring and tuning both digital and analog regulators
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
  • Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook
  • Ability to climb and work on cranes at heights up to approximately 175 feet
  • Availability to travel, domestically and internationally, approximately 35%, sometimes with limited notice

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of field engineering or customer support engineering experience in AC and DC Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) in an industrial environment
  • Expertise in PLC manufactured by Toshiba, GE, Rockwell, and Mitsubishi Electric
  • A/C and DC drive engineering experience to include AC/DC2000, AV/DC300, Innovation Series, T250, and legacy drives
  • Demonstrated field engineering experience in metals rolling and/or container crane systems industries
  • Controls engineering experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of LAN Topology for ISBUS, Profibus, Modbus, EGD, DeviceNet, TC-net, MELPAC, and TOSLINE
