Position Title: Production Systems Engineer

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Working Hours: Monday-Friday, Flexible Schedule between 7:00am-5:00pm
Salary Range: $93,000 - $110,000/Year

Position Summary

The Production Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in addressing both immediate and long-term challenges related to safety, growth, quality, productivity, and reliability within a manufacturing setting. This position offers technical guidance to operational staff and spearheads ongoing process enhancements to ensure consistent and efficient plant operations. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the Production Systems Engineer collaborates closely with operators, maintenance teams, team leaders, and management, possessing a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering methodologies. Proficiency in six sigma and lean practices, along with strong project management skills, is essential for success. Additionally, this role involves designing innovative controls and equipment aimed at enhancing productivity and seizing growth opportunities. The engineer will lead both formal and informal initiatives, as well as capital projects, to drive improvements in manufacturing operations.

Success Metrics
  • Effective project management from design to implementation of automated and non-automated systems.
  • Timely project delivery within budget constraints.
  • Improvements in manufacturing processes and workflows that enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
  • Year-over-year reduction in Cost of Goods Sold.
  • Proactive problem-solving to minimize internal and external quality issues.
  • Collaboration with team members, contractors, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance of manufacturing processes with regulatory standards and safety protocols.
  • Assess and identify opportunities for improvement in uptime, yield, and waste reduction.
  • Analyze labor, material, and other costs, providing recommendations for enhancements.
  • Research and implement new equipment or processes aimed at cost reduction through automation.
  • Identify and engage vendors for necessary services, parts, and equipment.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts to eliminate quality non-conformances.
  • Design and document tooling, fixtures, jigs, and equipment, creating detailed component and assembly drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Establish and document clear specifications, procedures, and work instructions for equipment and processes.
  • Provide support to production lines, including implementing process improvements, troubleshooting equipment, and addressing operator inquiries.
  • Recommend and establish predictive and preventative maintenance procedures for equipment.
  • Train personnel on new processes and methodologies.
  • Analyze and optimize workflow and equipment layout to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  • Perform general engineering administrative tasks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in Project Management.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar design software.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical skills for thorough evaluation and resolution of complex issues.
  • Organizational skills to manage various budgets, personnel, and schedules effectively.
