Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Nuclear Engineer to join our team at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory. As a Senior Nuclear Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing advanced nuclear propulsion systems for the U.S. Navy's submarines and aircraft carriers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop nuclear propulsion systems, including reactors, steam generators, and turbines
- Conduct experiments and testing to validate system performance and safety
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate systems and ensure overall system performance
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or related field, or Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering or related field with 4-6 years of experience
- 6-10 years of experience in nuclear engineering, with a focus on propulsion systems
- Strong knowledge of nuclear reactor design, materials science, and thermodynamics
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with nuclear reactor design and testing
- Knowledge of propulsion system integration and testing
