Compensation: $26.22 per hour

Position Purpose:

The Housing Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating the permanent housing search for families residing in the shelter. This position is responsible for orchestrating all housing service activities to ensure successful placements in alignment with organizational and contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Utilize evidence-based practices, including Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Care, to assist clients in achieving their housing goals.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in understanding housing subsidies and guide families through the application process.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with real estate brokers and landlords to provide families with access to current housing resources.
  • Act as a liaison with brokers and landlords to ensure housing options meet organizational standards for client readiness.
  • Organize and participate in housing fairs and networking events to enhance community connections.
  • Facilitate housing workshops addressing client needs and provide essential resources throughout the housing search process.
  • Conduct group meetings with new families to discuss available subsidies and responsibilities related to permanent housing searches.
  • Coordinate apartment viewings and landlord interviews, offering support during the application process.
  • Track referrals and maintain ongoing follow-up with clients, providing feedback to relevant sources.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers to develop effective permanent housing strategies.
  • Advocate for eligible families to secure Supportive Housing opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and ensure all documentation is organized and accessible.
  • Prepare mandated reports as required.

Qualifications:

  • Alignment with the mission and values of the organization.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred with two years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree with a minimum of four years of related experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of the housing market, subsidies, and supportive housing programs.
  • Ability to build strong collaborative relationships with brokers and landlords.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a professional demeanor.
  • Willingness to travel to potential housing sites as necessary.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Outlook.
