The Urban Resource Institute is seeking a skilled Client Services Coordinator - Housing Specialist to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

About the Role:

As a Client Services Coordinator - Housing Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing direct service provision to residents, including individual counseling, group counseling, advocacy services, referrals, and follow-up. You will also be responsible for making necessary linkages to community agencies to provide proper placement of residents in areas of permanent housing, referral to engage in after-care services, vocational and educational services, and to assist families in securing public assistance, Medicaid, or other benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a caseload of 25-30 families and conduct intake interviews to assess and evaluate residents for admission.
  • Engage residents in initial and ongoing treatment processes through individual and group counseling.
  • Conduct independent living plans on a biweekly basis and monitor case plans for effectiveness and individual client needs.
  • Develop and maintain housing referral resources, assist residents in locating and securing permanent housing, and assist in the development of savings plans with clients as applicable.
  • Assist in the coordination of on-site and off-site services, participate in training seminars, and attend weekly individual case supervision, group supervision, monthly case conferences, and staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Social Work Supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services.
  • Two years of counseling experience, preferably in a residential shelter.
  • Three years of crisis counseling experience, preferably in a residential shelter for homeless individuals and/or families.
  • Training and experience in assessing vocational and educational needs and aptitudes of clients.
  • Thorough familiarity and success with engaging clients in the process of obtaining Public Assistance, Medicaid, and other benefits.
  • Experience with supportive group facilitation and demonstrated sensitivity and experience with homelessness within disenfranchised communities.
