Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Stevedoring and Marine Terminal Operations Manager to join our team at Gulf Stream Marine. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of stevedoring and marine terminal operations, including bulk, breakbulk, steel products, and special project cargo.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the business development team to negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions for project-related work.
  • Act as the main point of contact for customers regarding coordination of project personnel.
  • Communicate customer requirements and expectations to the General Manager, Cargo Services Manager, and Operational Manager, ensuring these requirements and expectations are met.
  • Review and approve project-related proforma/draft invoices.
  • Oversee other departments such as cargo services and maintenance.
  • Fulfill the role of General Manager during their absence, having certain approval authority.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of stevedoring and marine terminal operations experience with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from a Maritime Academy, in Maritime Administration or related field; relevant working experience may be substituted.
  • Proven experience leading through change, fostering a cooperative work environment, and motivating others to drive continuous improvement.
  • Decisive individual who possesses both a strategic and operational focus.
  • Strong leadership demeanor as well as the ability to effectively influence and make recommendations at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include knowledge of Excel skills.
  • Required to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, in order to communicate with internal and external customers, at all organizational levels.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Proven ability to think logically, excellent analytical, critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Deadline-driven and provide a quality product/service.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • The employee is continuously required to sit.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to inclement weather/elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, airborne particles, smoke, unpleasant odors, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • Local and non-local travel may be required (approximately 10% of the time).
  • Must be able to work extended hours, weekends or holidays, as needed.
