Position Overview:

The Lead Marine Inspector is tasked with a variety of responsibilities, which may include additional duties as necessary:

1. Conducting marine inspections and/or evaluations in the field as directed by the Area Manager or Vice President, adhering to the company's Quality and Environmental Management Systems.

2. Facilitating effective communication with clients throughout the inspection and/or evaluation process, ensuring timely acknowledgment of assignments and the submission of preliminary findings post-fieldwork when required.

3. Generating and delivering clear, technically accurate inspection and/or evaluation reports utilizing the designated report templates, in accordance with company protocols and client specifications.

4. Supporting the Area Manager in addressing client concerns and managing invoice adjustments.

5. Identifying potential business opportunities and bringing them to the attention of management.

6. Advocating for company services within the marine sector, which includes client visits and participation in industry-related events.

7. Complying with the company's Health, Safety, Security & Environmental Manual, including active participation in monthly safety meetings.

8. Engaging in personal growth through internal training, relevant external training opportunities, and involvement in professional associations.

9. Assisting in the mentorship and training of junior staff members.

10. Ensuring the proper use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

11. Verifying that all necessary equipment is calibrated, operational, and that records are maintained in accordance with Quality and Environmental Procedures.

12. Securing appropriate credentials for access to terminals, docks, and job sites, while maintaining necessary documentation as per company guidelines.

13. *Experience in communication with Protection & Indemnity (P&I) Clubs is essential.*

Qualifications:

1. A degree from a maritime institution is preferred, or equivalent experience in the marine sector, including seven (7) years of sea-going experience in a certified role, or seven (7) years in marine inspection, or seven (7) years of relevant marine experience.

2. Membership in NAMSGlobal is preferred but not mandatory.

3. Proficiency in report writing and technical documentation is a key consideration.

4. A valid driver's license is required.

5. A valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) is necessary.

Work Environment:

1. The role involves working in open-air conditions, which may include exposure to noise, heat, cold, moisture, dust, etc.

2. Compliance with safety measures, including the use of hearing, eye, and head protection, as well as appropriate PPE, is mandatory.

3. The position may require climbing (up to 40 feet or higher, including some unprotected areas), bending, stooping, and lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs.

4. The role may involve handling hot and potentially hazardous materials.

5. Work may take place on marine vessels or in shipyard environments, necessitating navigation over uneven surfaces.

6. The ability to enter confined spaces, such as round manholes with an 18" diameter, is required.

7. Traversing gangways, ladders, and scaffolding at various heights is part of the job responsibilities.
