The Port of Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is actively seeking a motivated professional to become part of our team. This role, under the guidance of a designated supervisor, involves applying electrical principles and relevant expertise to assess, install, and maintain electrical systems, devices, and electronic components associated with industrial machinery and equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates cranes and associated equipment, performing necessary maintenance tasks such as replacing hold and close ropes and changing clam buckets (30 yd.).
Manages all material handling machinery involved in the loading and unloading of cargo.
Diagnoses and identifies issues within electrical control systems, control panels, motor control centers, and related equipment, implementing corrective measures as needed.
Assesses, suggests, and enacts modifications and enhancements to electrical and electronic control systems.
Conducts repairs, modifications, and maintenance on all electronic systems and components.
Maintains and calibrates electronic scale and product level systems.
Troubleshoots and rectifies electrical issues in air conditioning systems.
Develops, maintains, and modifies software for programmable logic control (PLC) systems.
Performs all necessary maintenance to ensure terminal operations run smoothly.
Identifies operational issues, detects potential malfunctions, and initiates preventative maintenance. Diagnoses and repairs conveyor transmissions, fluid couplings, and gearboxes.
Executes arc and MIG welding tasks, selecting appropriate welding supplies for the job.
Maintains conveyor systems, ensuring proper alignment and tension adjustments.
Ensures proper operation of belt cleaning equipment by maintaining tension and alignment.
Conducts maintenance on support equipment, including forklifts, backhoes, and vehicles.
Adjusts and calibrates vibratory feeders.
Completes and submits work orders.
Finishes all training and safety assignments promptly.
Capable of performing basic electrical tasks, including diagnosing electrical components.
Assists colleagues to maximize departmental efficiency.
Provides training, guidance, and support to junior employees.
Adheres to PCCA policies and fosters positive employee relations.
Encourages safety awareness and environmental responsibility, complying with all relevant safety and environmental regulations.
Operates vehicles as necessary to fulfill assigned duties and works required hours/shifts to meet facility objectives.
Performs related tasks as assigned.
Must be CPR certified or able to obtain certification within the first year of employment.
Tier 2 status designation
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The ideal candidate for this role should be organized, meticulous, and disciplined, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards in support of the PCCA.
Required Qualifications:
EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
Two years of formal education in industrial instrument technology along with two years of field experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) throughout employment.
Valid driver's license.
EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE
Five years of relevant experience and/or training or an acceptable equivalent.
Experience in electrical or welding preferred.
Willingness to pursue further education in electrical or welding fields.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity, with the ability to work at heights exceeding thirty feet.
Ability to read, comprehend, and modify electrical drawings and specifications, including blueprints and schematics; prior experience with standard electrical systems, electronics, and industrial instrumentation; maintenance and repair of air conditioning; practical DC generation and application; and knowledge of electrical codes and systems.
Exceptional judgment to safely and efficiently operate and maintain equipment.
Ability to solve practical problems and navigate a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations in all units of measure.
Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
Ability to interpret various instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Understanding and application of all PCCA policies.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing, and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting, and/or moving up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces, climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands; must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp/handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee, and reach above/below shoulders.
Exposure to adverse weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and occasional fumes or airborne particles; moderate noise levels and moving mechanical parts are present.
Ability to operate motor vehicles, heavy machinery, mechanical equipment, and standard office equipment, and to work the necessary hours to fulfill position objectives, including evenings and/or weekends, as required.
