Orthopedic Technician Job Overview**Key Responsibilities:**
- Prepare affected areas for cast application using designated protective materials.
- Moisten, wrap, and shape plaster bandages around the fracture site.
- Utilize electric cutters to trim plaster as needed.
- Remove and modify casts as instructed.
- Assemble orthopedic splints for patient use.
- Support orthopedic patients during their clinic visits.
- Acquire components for prescribed traction devices.
- Examine traction equipment and report observations.
- Manage inventory of supplies in the casting room.
- Fit patients with braces as required.
- Maintain cleanliness of the workspace and tools.
- Document processes and procedures accurately.
- Perform administrative tasks, including answering calls and updating patient records.
- Efficiently learn and utilize electronic record-keeping systems.
- Communicate effectively with billing and pre-certification departments.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all patients.
**Qualifications:**
- High school diploma is mandatory.
- Certification as an Athletic Trainer or a degree in Kinesiology is preferred.
- Prior experience in an orthopedic or therapy department is advantageous.
- Strong computer proficiency and familiarity with practice management software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of medical terminology is essential.
- Proficiency in electronic record systems is required.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage workload effectively.
- Willingness to travel to various clinic locations and work additional hours as necessary.
