Position Overview:
The Infusion Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity and quality of medication preparation within the Infusion Center at Summit Health. This position involves the compounding of both chemotherapeutic and non-chemotherapeutic agents in accordance with USP-800 standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify prescriptions for precision and necessary components.
- Utilize aseptic techniques for medication compounding.
- Evaluate the quality of pharmaceuticals.
- Manage hazardous substances and waste according to established protocols.
- Execute accurate drug measurements.
- Ensure pharmaceuticals are packaged correctly.
- Input medication data into the Nucleus System.
- Conduct inventory checks and assist with procurement.
- Maintain quality assurance documentation.
- Support training and onboarding processes.
- Adhere to safety regulations and report any discrepancies.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of a Vocational or Technical School program.
- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the New York Board.
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from PTCB.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital setting with IV compounding.
- Proficient communication skills in English.
- Familiarity with office equipment and technology.
- Valid licensure required.
