Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Store Operations Manager to join our team at Los Alamos Cooperative Market. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our store, providing exceptional customer service, and leading a team of dedicated employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service
    • Ensure that all customers are treated with honesty, integrity, and the highest standard of ethical conduct.
    • Proactively greet all customers and provide a friendly, courteous, and helpful shopping experience.
    • Offer samples and suggestions for purchase and provide information on products and services.
    • Ensure that all customer interactions are resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Operations
    • Assist in the regular department product stocking and rotation.
    • Ensure that the facility is properly maintained and report any faulty equipment or facility issues to management.
    • Maintain all displays, prep, and storage areas in a clean and orderly condition.
    • Rotate deliveries into storage and ensure that proper product dating and labeling procedures are followed.
    • Work to ensure that all store departments' priorities are met as set by the General Manager.
    • Follow food safety and sanitation regulations and maintain daily temperature logs.
    • Alert the General Manager of any low inventories or out-of-stocks of products and supplies.
  • Merchandising
    • Stay informed and engaged in carrying out store merchandising goals.
    • Ensure that the department is fully stocked and that products are labeled accurately and of the highest quality.
    • Face, rotate, and cull products according to department procedures.
  • Additional Duties
    • In the absence of the General Manager, act as a store floor operations leader.
    • Prioritize and implement department tasks as outlined.
    • Delegate responsibilities and monitor progress on various tasks.
    • Set a positive example for store staff and act as a leadership presence on the sales floor.
    • Oversee shift checklists and break schedules.
    • Act as a communication liaison within the store and with the General Manager.
    • Provide feedback to the General Manager on department and store operations and performance.
    Requirements
    • Ability to manage people and different situations calmly.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Excellent communication and listening skills.
    • Natural food or organic experience preferred.
    • Retail experience.
    • Merchandising experience preferred.
    • Ability to handle multiple demands in a calm and effective manner.
    • Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments.
    • Knowledge of products and trends in the natural food industry, a plus.
    • Ability to create a positive environment and work as a team member.
    • Organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Demonstrated ability to make decisions using good judgment.
    • Experience implementing systems and procedures.
    • Excellent quality and freshness skills a must.
    Special Requirements
    • Must be 18 years or older.
    • Must be available to work evenings and weekends and to the needs of the business.
    • Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
    • Comfortable and willing to work with meat and fresh food items.
    • Willingness to work with sanitizers and cleaners.
    Education/Experience
    • Familiarity with natural food, nutrition, and food sensitivities.
    • Basic skills in math, weights, measures, and conversions.
    • Knowledge of sanitary food handling and preparation techniques.
    Physical Demands
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.
    • Able to stand for long periods of time.
    • Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment.
    • Must be able to perform functions with repetitive wrist and arm motion.
