Role Overview

As a Support Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting families seeking help for autism and related developmental disabilities by providing care in various settings, including home environments, support centers, or community locations.

Your primary objective will be to offer compassionate assistance and care to individuals whose behaviors may vary from mild to severe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and supervision to clients in daily living activities, such as personal hygiene, dressing, and toileting.
  • Follow and document individual care plans as directed by the Program Coordinator or Department Manager, including behavioral support and intervention strategies.
  • Adapt to fulfill diverse roles that meet the unique needs of each client, supporting them through various life stages, including afterschool programs, college, part-time employment, and day programs or group homes.
  • Ensure compliance with standards, procedures, and schedules set by supervisors.
  • Communicate relevant information and issues promptly in line with company policies.
  • Complete all initial and ongoing training requirements.
  • Maintain punctuality and attendance as per organizational standards.
  • Document client progress and share findings with the program coordinator.
  • Prepare and submit behavioral and incident reports as needed.
  • Be equipped to manage and de-escalate behavioral incidents, including physical and verbal aggression, property damage, elopement, self-injurious behaviors, and self-stimulatory actions.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (minimum requirement)
  • Reliable means of transportation
  • Successful completion of background checks, employment verification, and health screenings
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. while assisting clients.
  • Capability to run, bend, sit, and stand for extended periods.
