Empowering Individuals with Disabilities
Lutheran Services in Iowa is seeking dedicated and compassionate caregivers to work part-time and/or full-time as a Direct Support Professional in our Services for People with Disabilities team.
About the Role
As a Direct Support Professional, you will work with adults and children with intellectual disabilities or chronic mental illness, providing support, assistance, and instruction in learning independent living skills such as:
- Money management
- Socialization
- Cooking
- Personal hygiene
Responsibilities
During a regular shift, you will meet with multiple individuals one at a time, spending two to four hours with each of them. Your duties will include:
- Providing support and assistance with daily living activities
- Teaching and reinforcing independent living skills
- Encouraging socialization and community integration
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities (preferred but not required)
