Family Resource Center Support Specialist

Position Summary:
The Family Support Coordinator plays a crucial role in enhancing family Protective Factors through various parenting initiatives. This position involves managing daily operations at the Family Resource Centers and ensuring adherence to the Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening & Support. Reporting directly to the Program Manager, the Coordinator will assist families by providing short-term case management to identify their strengths and needs, organizing parenting activities, facilitating parent education, and participating in community outreach to promote the services available at the Family Resource Centers.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management (35%): Deliver comprehensive case management and support to families aimed at enhancing their Protective Factors. Responsibilities include screening and interviewing potential clients, developing tailored action plans, and connecting families with essential resources such as training and community services focused on positive parenting, social-emotional well-being, housing stability, and food security. Maintain a manageable caseload of 40 families annually, ensuring progress is monitored and documented to meet established goals.
Parent Engagement (20%): Oversee and facilitate the implementation of Parenting Education Strategies designed to enhance parental knowledge of child development and positive parenting practices. Responsibilities include setting up and cleaning up before and after classes, engaging with parents during activities, and providing childcare during adult learning sessions. Maintain certifications in relevant programs.
Contract Compliance (15%): Ensure compliance with contractual obligations by managing and reporting necessary data to funding organizations.
Program Coordination and Community Engagement (15%): Collaborate with Family Resource Center staff to coordinate parent education initiatives and manage supplies and materials. Responsibilities include creating a quarterly parent education calendar, participating in community networking opportunities, and maintaining relationships with subcontractors.
Team Leadership (10%): Lead and supervise multiple liaisons, ensuring adherence to funding standards and program requirements. Responsibilities include overseeing the hiring, training, and evaluation of staff and volunteers, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Preferred Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood, Social Services, or a related field, with two years of experience in family support or social services.
- Experience supervising staff or volunteers.
- Comfortable working with young children (birth to 5 years).
- Knowledge of human service systems and community resources.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, along with a clear criminal background check.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.
- Willingness to obtain necessary training within the first 180 days of employment.
Professional Development:
- Certification in Standards of Quality for Family Support and Strengthening.
- Commitment to 25 hours of ongoing professional development training annually.
Language Skills:
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred, with the ability to communicate effectively and work with diverse populations.
Physical Demands:
This position requires the ability to perform essential functions in various environments, including the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, use office equipment, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary for community outreach.
