POSITION SUMMARY:

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the transportation department and plays a key role in shaping operational policies and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all essential duties and functions of the department.
  • Supervise personnel, allocate tasks, monitor activities, and assess performance. Address escalated issues, administer employment actions, and provide coaching and development opportunities for staff.
  • Lead departmental activities by planning and organizing workflows, ensuring adequate staffing and resources, and maintaining schedules to uphold customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of departmental equipment and technical resources, coordinating with internal teams and vendors to resolve issues.
  • Manage inventory and ensure supplies are replenished as necessary.
  • Guarantee compliance with Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards among staff.
  • Conduct and document monthly audits.
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing departmental activities and perform analyses to identify and address issues.
  • Assist in the development and management of budgetary requirements.
  • Provide business review insights to the Transportation Manager.
  • Consult with clients to clarify or resolve issues and procedures.
  • Stay informed about industry changes that may impact work activities and engage in relevant industry groups.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including safety and quality protocols, while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other assigned duties as needed.
  • Uphold ethical standards and accountability, fostering a culture of integrity and adherence to organizational values.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a fast-paced production or distribution environment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Positive attitude and proactive approach.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, and drive for extended periods.
  • Fine motor skills and steadiness in hand movements.
  • Capability to lift up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of 40 pounds, and carry up to 15 pounds for short durations.
  • Effective communication skills in English with clients, supervisors, and peers.
  • Vision acuity for detail-oriented tasks, including in low-light conditions.
  • Physical agility, including balancing, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Laboratory setting with potential biohazards.
  • Work under close to moderate supervision with limited independent judgment.
  • General instructions provided for routine tasks and detailed guidance for new assignments.
  • Potential exposure to zoonotic disease agents and hazardous chemicals, with a comprehensive list available from departmental supervision.

The Target Pay Range for this position is $51,900-$61,000 annually, determined by relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training, and budget considerations.
