POSITION SUMMARY:
The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the transportation department and plays a key role in formulating operational policies and procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all essential functions and duties of the department.
- Supervise team members, allocate tasks, monitor performance, and address escalated issues. Provide coaching, guidance, and promote professional development among staff. Contribute to the formulation of departmental policies and procedures.
- Lead departmental activities by planning and organizing workflows, ensuring adequate staffing and resources, and maintaining schedules to uphold customer satisfaction.
- Assist in the upkeep of departmental equipment and technical resources, coordinating with internal staff and vendors to resolve issues and ensure functionality.
- Manage inventory and restock supplies as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance/Quality Control standards among staff.
- Conduct and document monthly audits.
- Prepare reports and presentations summarizing departmental activities and perform analyses to identify and address issues.
- Support the development and management of financial budgets.
- Provide relevant business review information to the Transportation Manager.
- Engage with clients to clarify or resolve issues and procedures.
- Stay informed about industry changes and developments that may impact work activities, and participate in relevant industry groups and forums.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including safety and quality protocols, while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- May be involved in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other assigned duties.
- Uphold ethical standards and accountability within the organization, encouraging a culture of integrity and compliance with company policies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of experience in a fast-paced production or distribution environment.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Valid driving record.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, and drive for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and steadiness.
- Capability to lift up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of 40 pounds.
- Effective communication skills in English with clients, supervisors, and peers.
- Attention to detail and ability to see well in various lighting conditions.
- Physical abilities including balancing, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, reaching, and twisting.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Laboratory setting with potential biohazards.
- Work is performed under close to moderate supervision with limited independent judgment.
- General instructions are provided for routine tasks, with detailed guidance for new assignments.
- Potential exposure to zoonotic disease agents and hazardous chemicals as defined by safety standards.
The Target Pay Range for this position is $51,900-$61,000 annually, based on relevant skills, experience, education, and budget considerations.
