The Justice Administrative Commission (JAC) is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Assistant General Counsel. This position is designed to provide legal representation for JAC in civil litigation and appellate matters concerning state-funded attorney fees and associated costs.
Organizational Context:
JAC supports various legal entities within Florida, including State Attorneys and Public Defenders, by offering assistance in financial management, budgeting, and human resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent JAC in civil court proceedings and appeals.
- Provide legal advice on employment, procurement, contracts, budgeting, public records, and legislative matters.
Impact of Your Work:
In this role, you will leverage your analytical skills to enhance the effectiveness of legal services, ensuring the judicial system in Florida operates efficiently.
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary for this position ranges from $75,000 to $85,000 annually, based on experience. A comprehensive benefits package is included, covering health insurance, retirement options, and paid leave.
Work Environment:
This position allows for a flexible work arrangement, including the possibility of remote work after an initial period. JAC promotes a healthy work-life balance and does not impose billable hour requirements.
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school and be a member in good standing of The Florida Bar. Strong communication, writing, and research skills are essential.
