Orthopedic Physician Assistant

Position Overview:
The Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will deliver comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care to patients undergoing orthopedic surgery. This role involves collaboration with the supervising surgeon in both clinical and hospital environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement treatment strategies addressing clinical concerns from patients and healthcare staff through various communication methods.
- Apply casts and perform splinting as necessary.
- Conduct procedures in diverse hospital settings under the supervision of a physician, aligned with qualifications and experience.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as directed by surgical team members.
- Manage patient admissions and execute admission orders.
- Conduct thorough History & Physical examinations.
- Provide consultations as required.
- Document progress notes and perform inpatient rounds.
- Conduct outpatient clinic evaluations.
- Oversee patient discharges, including discharge orders and summaries.
- Continuously assess patients' medical, physical, and psychosocial conditions.
- Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and community resources.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies.
- Formulate and execute treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications and manage prescriptions, including controlled substances with appropriate licensure.
- Issue perioperative orders and transfer orders as needed.
- Perform bedside procedures such as wound care, incision and drainage, and biopsies.
- Ensure all documentation is completed within 48 hours of patient encounters.
- Adhere to local billing and coding regulations.
- Assist in minor and major surgical procedures as needed.
- Manage wound care including debridement, irrigation, and closure.
- Perform laceration repairs of varying complexity.
- Execute other clinical tasks as assigned.
- Compensation Package: $150,000 annual salary, $10K sign-on bonus, wRVU incentive bonus
Qualifications:
- Proficient understanding of medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies or a related field.
- Completion of an accredited program with 60 hours of pharmacology training.
- Current PA licensure and certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- 1-3 years of surgical experience or completion of a surgical residency program.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to manage sensitive and confidential matters.
