About the Role

The Highlands at Harbor Springs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ski Patroller to join our team. As a Ski Patroller, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our guests and staff on the mountain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor mountain areas for injured, lost, or reckless skiers and snowboarders, and for skiing hazards
  • Provide first aid and other necessary assistance to skiers and snowboarders
  • Enforce company skiing safety regulations
  • Complete ongoing training and emergency procedures practice
  • Perform various trail maintenance tasks, including checking trails for hazards, installing new or replacing down roping or fencing, and cutting brush
  • Search for missing persons and equipment when required
  • Support Patrol or other organized racing activities and special events
  • Administer emergency care/first aid to injured patrons, including skiers and snowboarders
  • Transport uninjured skiers or snowboarders who are having difficulty or have lost or damaged equipment to base area by toboggan or snowmobile
  • Answer questions, give directions, and provide general assistance to guests
Requirements
  • Experience working in a multi-tasking environment with telephones, radios, and computers
  • Experience working as a Ski Patroller or in a related field
  • Experience working in the customer service or hospitality industry
  • Experience in healthcare, especially in the emergency setting
  • Holds EMT, WFR, OEC certification or greater at time of hire
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. in various forms; up to 60 lbs. for non-essential functions
  • Ability to move safely across floors that may be wet or slippery due to the active winter work environment
  • Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
  • Ability to hear and respond quickly to sounds
  • Ability to speak respectfully with persons of all ages and of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds
  • Ability to read and write standard English text
  • Ability to use a computer and tablet for significant periods of time
