Mountain Patrol Supervisor

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mountain Patroller to ensure the safety of our guests and employees on and off the mountain. This individual will support multiple priorities, including supporting the opening and closing of the mountain, assisting in emergency and medical situations, and collaborating with other departments to drive a culture of safety and service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintains all mountain safety activities, including opening and closing trails, removing hazards, reporting trail conditions, and responding to potential incidents.
  • Conducts emergency medical care, mountain rescue, lift evacuation, and patient transport.
  • Communicates and makes collaborative decisions for guest safety and mountain operations with Mountain Patrol leadership.
  • Provides excellent service to guests and employees.
  • Completes required gear inspections and training and has a thorough understanding of medical policies and procedures.
  • Educates guests and employees in safe riding and skiing, as well as terrain park use and etiquette.
  • Skis or Snowboards in challenging terrain with a toboggan and other equipment.
  • Oversees all training and documentation for Soda Patrollers.
  • Makes operational decisions related to customer and employee safety.
  • Reviews incident reports.
  • Oversees all investigations on Soda Springs property.
  • Assists other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong skiing/snowboarding capabilities.
  • EMT or OEC Certification with current CPR certification.
  • Previous patrol experience.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Avalanche Certifications and experience.
  • Ability to lift 50lb+.
  • Experience working as mountain patrol and/or leadership is a plus.
  • Ability to work in variable outdoor conditions.
  • Ability to transport self to and from shifts in a punctual manner.
