Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ski Patrol Team Lead to join our team at the City of Steamboat Springs. As a key member of our ski patrol team, you will be responsible for overseeing the safety and well-being of our guests on the mountain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of ski patrollers, providing guidance and support to ensure the highest level of service and safety.
  • Assist with the training and development of ski patrollers, including certification and re-certification programs.
  • Conduct daily trail checks and identify potential hazards, taking necessary steps to mitigate risks and ensure a safe skiing experience.
  • Provide medical care and emergency response services to guests, working closely with EMS agencies and hospitals as needed.
  • Collaborate with risk management and insurance representatives to ensure compliance with city policies and procedures.
  • Assist with scheduling, leading, and documenting chairlift evacuation trainings and maintain all evacuation-related ropes and gear.
  • Oversee all terrain features at the ski area, including opening and closing the terrain park and maintaining terrain park record keeping.
Requirements
  • Graduation from High School and current Certificate in Outdoor Emergency Care and CPR or equivalent (EMT).
  • Three years of progressively responsible work related to municipal or public safety.
  • Working knowledge of public risk management and loss control principles and practices.
  • Ability to maintain efficient and effective risk management systems and procedures.
  • Advanced skiing ability required to reach injured skiers on all terrain.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary range of $32.59/hour, dependent on qualifications and experience.
  • Seasonal employees who work 20 hours a week or more are eligible for limited benefits, including a Regional Bus Pass and Howelsen Hill Skiing and Skating Pass.
