Kids In Distress is seeking a full-time Family Support and Engagement Specialist to provide regular long-term home visiting services and referrals to other needed support services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initiate and maintain regular home visiting services for a caseload of families.
- Provide education on parenting, child development, and child and home safety.
- Complete child developmental and parent screens.
- Model and facilitate positive parent-child interactions using curriculum.
- Assist families in creating and achieving goals.
- Link families to community resources as needed.
- Complete and submit all required documentation.
- Participate in weekly supervision and attend required training, team meetings, and community events.
Requirements:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Creole preferred.
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and at least one year of experience working with children or families.
- Ability to establish trusting relationships, experience in working with or providing services to children and families, acceptance of individual differences, and experience working with culturally diverse populations.
- Knowledge of infant and child development, willingness to engage in building reflective capacity, and strong organizational and scheduling skills.
- Ability to work independently conducting home visits within the community, flexible hours including evenings and weekends, and valid Florida Driver's License with full access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
