Job Summary

As a Substance Abuse Therapist with the Ak-Chin Indian Community, you will play a vital role in promoting substance abuse awareness and counseling throughout the community. This position requires a strong understanding of various therapeutic modalities specific to substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, write progress notes, and make appropriate referrals.
  • Counsel clients individually or with family members, and function in substance abuse group settings.
  • Remain current on different types of substances and state-of-the-art treatment for those substances.
  • Develop programs to educate youth and other interested parties regarding substance abuse.
  • Facilitate substance abuse groups with clients and work effectively with local area behavioral health/social service agencies.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with rotating on-call duties and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Masters Degree in Counseling or a closely related field with at least two years of experience in substance abuse.
  • License from the State of Arizona, LASAC, LISAC, or LPC.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, work independently, and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license and ability to meet the Community's insurance carrier requirements.
