About the Role

Kapsch TrafficCom AG is a leading global technology company that specializes in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). As a seasoned ITS Consulting Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading and supporting ITS and Emerging Technology consulting projects with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Lead the delivery of ITS and emerging technology projects to VDOT, including strategic and hands-on management support for the Regional Multi-Modal Mobility Program (RM3P).
  • Technical Expertise: Apply ITS knowledge and methodologies in systems engineering, strategic planning, technology assessments, data management, applications oversight, project/program evaluations, benefit-cost analyses, etc.
  • Documentation and Communication: Lead and support the preparation and review of ITS-related technical documentation, including system requirements, concepts of operations, system designs, test and validation plans, field deployment plans, operations plans, etc.
  • Project Controls: Manage project controls, including monitoring project/task progress and performance, and overseeing schedules, budgets, risks, etc.
  • Stakeholder Management: Interface with the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) and ensure that VDOT's technology projects comply with VITA requirements.
  • Client and Stakeholder Communications: Facilitate client and stakeholder communications and meetings.
  • Project Task Orders: Develop and manage project task orders, including task planning, staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and subcontractor activities.
  • New Business Development: Identify and cultivate new work opportunities.
Requirements
  • Experience: 8-10 years of progressive professional experience delivering ITS engineering services to state and federal transportation agencies.
  • Licenses and Certifications: PE and/or PTOE license in Virginia, Certification as a VITA Project Manager, or ability to gain certification within 6 months, Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) desirable.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of current and emerging strategies and technologies, including traffic management, integrated corridor management, multi-modal management, demand management, transportation operations, decision support, modeling/simulation, prediction, and big data.
  • Personal Qualities: Proficiency in analytical and strategic thinking; verbal and written communications; and collaborative leadership.
