Overview:


The Animal Hospital is dedicated to providing essential medical care and alleviating the suffering of animals that have been victims of cruelty and neglect. We work closely with various partners to ensure that these animals receive the help they need.

We also offer subsidized medical services for pets belonging to owners facing financial hardships, ensuring that no animal is deprived of necessary care.

Our Licensed Veterinary Technicians are devoted professionals who thrive in a dynamic environment, committed to ensuring that animals lead fulfilling lives.

Our nursing team collaborates seamlessly with the veterinary medical staff to deliver high-quality, practical veterinary services, providing compassionate treatment to both outpatients and hospitalized animals.

Additionally, our nurses support the Animal Recovery Center as required, always prioritizing the well-being of our patients and minimizing their stress and anxiety.

Team members in this role are tasked with delivering exceptional service and communication to clients, the public, colleagues, and patients, aligning with our practice's standards and values.



Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities encompass but are not limited to:
Nursing Care and Client Services (40%)

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of veterinary medical principles.
  • Deliver compassionate and quality care to patients at all times, adhering to Fear Free Guidelines.
  • Exhibit proficiency in essential nursing skills, including venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, and critical care.
  • Utilize critical thinking and multitasking abilities effectively.
  • Prioritize tasks based on the needs of the hospital and patients.
  • Ensure safe animal handling and restraint during medical procedures.
  • Treat animals and clients with dignity and respect.
  • Clearly communicate with clients regarding their pets' conditions as documented by the veterinarian.
  • Report any patient concerns or changes to the veterinarian promptly.
  • Administer medications and feed patients as directed.
  • Lift patients weighing up to 40 pounds as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe and compassionate environment using low-stress handling techniques.
Professionalism, Communication, and Performance (40%)

  • Represent the organization in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding training needs and hospital requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with other department managers and staff.
  • Uphold organizational policies and protocols.
  • Remain open to changes and willing to learn and implement new protocols.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of daily procedures and protocols.
  • Ensure high standards of care and performance are consistently met.
  • Work independently and as part of a team efficiently.
  • Remain calm and efficient under challenging circumstances.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions regularly.
  • Notify supervisors of any unsafe conditions or hazards.
Housekeeping and Maintenance (20%)

  • Clean and disinfect facilities and equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Follow all departmental cleaning and safety procedures.
  • Maintain inventory and restock supplies as needed.
  • Ensure that all areas of the hospital remain clean and organized throughout the day.
Additional Information

  • We seek candidates who demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in both team and independent settings. A sense of humor, flexibility, and attention to detail are highly valued. This is a full-time position, and weekend work may be required.
  • Certification in Fear Free practices is required within 60 days of hire.

Compensation and Benefits:


The starting salary for the successful candidate will depend on various factors, including education, training, experience, and market conditions.

The target hiring range is specifically for new hires, with potential for salary increases based on performance over time.

The expected salary range for this role is outlined below and may be adjusted in the future.


Qualifications:

Candidates must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods. Proficiency in basic to advanced computer skills is required. Completion of the Fear Free 8 module course or willingness to complete it within 60 days of hire is necessary. A high degree of integrity and accountability is essential, along with knowledge of veterinary hospital protocols and excellent customer service skills.

Licensure as a Veterinary Technician is required.
