Responsibilities:

Job Purpose

The Energy Management Compliance Manager will play a vital role within the company’s Middle Office, providing essential risk management expertise for our Energy Management operations in the wholesale power and renewable markets across the USA and Canada.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee the company’s Energy Management activities to ensure adherence to trading policies, limits, and internal controls.
  • Conduct daily reporting and analysis of critical metrics such as Profit & Loss (P&L), net position, and Value at Risk (VaR) for the trading, finance, and management teams.
  • Develop and maintain the company’s energy risk management policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Monitor and validate trades, positions, and prices recorded in the Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM) system.
  • Execute daily and monthly reconciliation processes in collaboration with Front Office and Back Office functions.
  • Participate in development and implementation projects aimed at enhancing and automating internal controls, metrics, and technology systems.
  • Manage daily monitoring of collateral posted with futures exchanges and Independent System Operators (ISOs).
  • Support the contracting and confirmation process for master agreements related to bilateral sales of power and renewable attributes.

Qualifications:

Experience/Qualifications/Education Required

A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics/Statistics, Business, Economics, or a related quantitative field, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in commodity risk management, compliance, or trading.

Additional Requirements

  • Familiarity with US power or natural gas markets; knowledge of renewable market operations in ERCOT and CAISO is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience with ETRM systems such as Allegro Horizon, OpenLink, or Aligne.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced numerical and analytical abilities to assess and interpret daily fluctuations in risk management metrics and reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • A collaborative and enthusiastic team player, motivated by the dynamic challenges of a fast-paced and evolving commercial environment, with a desire to continuously learn and grow within this high-profile function.

Compensation and Benefits:

The expected starting pay range for this role is $103,000 - $139,000. This range is an estimate, and base pay may vary based on factors such as location, work experience, certifications, and education. In addition to base pay, our compensation program includes a bonus structure for full-time employees at all levels. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, life insurance, voluntary benefits, family care benefits, employee assistance programs, paid time off, bonding leave, paid holidays, and a 401(k)/RRSP retirement savings plan with employer contributions.
